Spotlight with David Daggett: Safe Sober 2023 – Onward and Upward!

David-Daggett-Griff-Shuler-Safe-Sober-2023

The Daggett Shuler Safe Sober program has become a culture of leadership, guidance, and direction for our young people through the most powerful force available – Positive Peer Pressure! Thirty-three years ago when we created the Safe Sober program, I had no idea the huge impact it would have, not only on the Triad community, but also on myself and our law firm.

Over the last 33 years, the Safe Sober program has become the largest and longest running privately funded initiative of its type in the United States, and perhaps the world! As proud as we are of this tradition, now is not the time to relax. Safe Sober has become a time-honored springtime tradition in the Triad and we intend to keep the momentum going.

To kick-off this year’s Safe Sober season we are pleased to announce that we will be hosting Safe Sober Day at the Winston-Salem Dash on Sunday, April 30th! Come out to the ballgame and celebrate our over thirty-year tradition of keeping kids safe and sober!

A founding principle of Safe Sober has always been to encourage teens to make good decisions about drugs and alcohol by harnessing the power of positive peer pressure. Now, as we move towards a bright future, we are focusing on how we continue to evolve the program. The Safe Sober message is incorporated throughout our students lives in both middle and high school. As studies have shown, kids are being exposed to drugs and alcohol at a much earlier age. To help them make the right choice in their lives, we need to focus our message of positive peer pressure on these younger students, reaching them before or right when the pressures of drugs and alcohol enter their lives.

We need you and our young people need you… join us to continue the Safe Sober tradition here in the Triad. Now we are moving into a brand-new era of the program to amplify the Safe Sober message.  We are excited for new partnerships, maintaining our traditions, and continuing our positive impact on the teens of the Triad and on the community as a whole!

I personally invite YOU to join us in wrapping our collective arms of encouragement and support around our young people.  They are our future and together we can make that future positive for our communities.

I would like to take time to thank the staff at Daggett Shuler Attorneys at Law. To Megan Youngblood for helping me get my disability started; thank you so much for everything!
