The Matthew Gfeller Memorial Doughnut Run Brings the Winston-Salem Community Together in Support of Brain Injury Awareness, Research & Treatment.
In 2008, Matthew Gfeller, a sophomore at RJ Reynolds High School, sustained a fatal brain injury during a high school varisty football game. Ever since this tragedy, Matthew’s parents Bob and Lisa Gfeller, as well as Matt’s close friends and family, have dedicated themselves to raising awareness of head injury prevention.
Matt’s friends founded the Matt Gfeller Memorial Doughnut Run in 2009 and have helped raise over $250,000 to support research on Traumatic Brain Injuries.
