Smiles and Support: The DSAGWS Buddy Walk

DSAGWS-Buddy-Walk

On Saturday, September 18th, attorneys David Daggett and Griff Shuler of Daggett Shuler Law appeared on Triad Today with Dr. McNeil Cronin to talk about the upcoming Buddy Walk. Dr. Cronin is the President of the Down Syndrome Association of Winston-Salem (DSAGWS), and the walk is one of their major annual events. Watch the segment:

The Buddy Walk, to be held on September 25th, benefits the Down syndrome community in the Triad. The DSAGWS’s mission is to promote acceptance and inclusion, as well as focusing on advocacy in the community. The DSAGWS strives to help individuals with Down syndrome to reach their fullest potential. They do so with local events such as the Buddy Walk, as well as providing support to families, sometimes even prior to birth.

The Down syndrome community in the Triad is very tight-knit, and this event is a great example of how the community rallies together to support each other. Their message of inclusion is an important one for the entire community as it encourages us all to accept everyone as just as they are.

Unfortunately, due to local pandemic conditions, the race has been moved from West Forsyth High School to a virtual race instead. However, over a thousand participants are expected, and the DSAGWS is approaching their fundraising goal! If you’d like to participate in the event, there’s still time to register here. Everyone is welcome!

Later in the episode, David Daggett also participated in the Roundtable discussion with Ogi Overman and Keith Grandberry. They talked about current news items and political issues. Watch the video:
