Did you know that July is National Parks and Recreation Month? In North Carolina, we are fortunate to have a wealth of wonderful state and local parks where we can relax, enjoy nature, and get some fresh air and sunshine. Attorney David Daggett, an avid triathlete and multiple-time Ironman, highly recommends Pilot Mountain and Hanging Rock State Parks.

At Pilot Mountain State Park, there are plenty of fun activities for the entire family. With a 6.5-mile trail that leads to the mountain, camping, rock climbing and rappelling, and canoeing, there is definitely something to do for everyone.

Hanging Rock State Park also offers a wealth of activities. Camping in both tents and cabins is available, along with hiking, streams and waterfalls, canoeing, and paddling on the Dan River. The “triple hump” at Sauratown Mountain  is one of David’s favorite challenging rides!

Given the current recommended health precautions, it is recommended that you research the parks before heading out to see what is currently open at that time. You can go here for that information.
