Are Bicyclists in North Carolina Required to Use Lights at Night?

Are bicyclists in North Carolina required to use lights at night?

Yes. When riding at night, bicycles must use proper light equipment. Lights are required from sunset to sunrise. A front light must be visible from 300 feet ahead, and a rear right or red reflector must be visible from 200 feet. Visibility is very important at all times, for bike safety.

For more information about bicycle safety or if you have been injured in a bicycle accident, we can help.

I would like to take time to thank the staff at Daggett Shuler Attorneys at Law. To Megan Youngblood for helping me get my disability started; thank you so much for everything!
