Safe Sober: A Tradition in the Triad

Safe-Sober-2023-on-Triad-Today

On Saturday, March 18th, attorneys David Daggett and Griff Shuler of Daggett Shuler Law appeared on Triad Today to share exciting news about the 33rd year of the Daggett Shuler Safe Sober Program. Watch the segment to learn more about the exciting things coming this year:

With over three decades and 600,000 students reached in that time, the Safe Sober program is a staple of the spring season in the Triad. Originally focusing on high schoolers during prom season, the program has drastically expanded over the past few years.

Recent studies have shown that middle-school-aged students are dealing with issues surrounding drugs and alcohol, even at that young age. To help combat this troubling issue, Safe Sober has partnered with local YMCAs to help spread the message at summer camps. By reaching preteens, the Safe Sober program is making even more of an impact on young people and encourages them to make the right choice when faced with tricky situations. The leadership, guidance, and direction that they receive through Safe Sober helps them navigate difficult scenarios and make responsible decisions.

While Safe Sober is an evolving and expanding program, some things don’t change, like the annual t-shirt design contest. Each year, high school students submit designs for the t-shirts, which are distributed all over the community. One student’s design is selected and printed on thousands of shirts. The winner also receives a $1,000 scholarship. This year’s winner has been selected and will be announced very soon, so follow Safe Sober on Facebook and Instagram for the big reveal!

This year’s big news is that Daggett Shuler is once again partnering with the Winston-Salem Dash for Family Day, sponsored by Safe Sober! The big game is on Sunday, April 30th. It’ll be a fun-filled day for the entire family, so be sure to get your tickets now. And after the game, bring your kids down to the field for Kids Run the Bases, brought to you by Daggett Shuler all season!

Later in the episode, David and Griff also participated in the Roundtable discussion with Ogi Overman. They talked about current news items and political issues.
