On Saturday, July 15th, attorney David Daggett of Daggett Shuler Law appeared on Triad Today with Lauren Bruce, Senior VP of Development at Ainsley’s Angels, to discuss some exciting upcoming events. Watch the segment:
Ainsley’s Angels is a nonprofit organization that pairs able-bodied athletes with participants who are not physically capable of participating in running or endurance events. With over 70 ambassadors nationwide, their mission is “inclusion without limits.” The Triad chapter has been active for 5 years, and they offer opportunities to participate in all types of events, from 5Ks to marathons. Their philosophy is that running is for everyone, and riders never need to pay anything – whether for race registrations or use of special wheelchairs.
Community involvement and support are critical to support Ainsley’s Angels’s mission. The program is entirely volunteer-run, and corporate and community participation allows them to spread the message that there is a place for everyone, and emphasizes giving back to the community.
In fact, Ainsley’s Angels has a participant that will be involved in the upcoming Smiley Sprint Triathlon, on July 30th. A young man named Gabe who is living with Down syndrome will be assisted by an impressive crew – a pre-Olympic swimmer will help in the pool, the biking portion will be with a two-time Olympian, and Ms. Bruce will assist with the running portion. The Smiley Sprint Triathlon is part of the Smiley Festival Weekend, which also includes the Kids for Kids Triathlon on July 29th. If you’d like to participate or volunteer for either of these great events, the opportunity is still available! You can register for the Kids race here, and the Smiley Sprint here. Daggett Shuler and the Safe Sober program are proud to sponsor the weekend’s events. Later in the episode, David also participated in the Roundtable discussion with Ogi Overman and Keith Grandberry. They talked about current news items and political issues.
