Food insecurity is a major issue that impacts a shocking number of local families and communities.
For many families struggling to make ends meet, food is often the first item that gets cut from their budget.
Below are some alarming facts about food insecurity in our region:
- 1 in 6 residents of Northwest NC is food insecure.
- This means 1 in 4 children in our area qualify as food insecure.
- Food Banking began over 35 years ago to prevent food waste and help feed communities.
It is so important for everyone in our community to be charitable, especially during the Holiday Season. Supporting a local Food Bank makes a huge difference to many local families in need.
