The Smiley Triathlon Festival promises a weekend of healthy fun for all ages. Learn more from David Daggett and Griff Shuler in this episode of Triad Today.

Attorneys David Daggett and Griff Shuler recently appeared on Triad Today to discuss the Smiley Triathlon Festival. The festival combines the Kids for Kids Triathlon and the Smiley Sprint Triathlon (for adults) into a weekend of healthy and exciting fun for everyone, from novices to experienced athletes.
On Saturday, July 26th, the Kids for Kids Triathlon kicks off at 8am at Clemmons West Pool. The Kids Triathlon is in its 22nd year and has been ranked as the #1 Best Youth Triathlon in the Eastern US by Triathlete.com. There are two age brackets, 7-10 years old and 11-15 years old. The distances for each of the events – swimming, biking, and running – are modified for the age groups. The Kids for Kids Triathlon is a great way to get a child started in triathlons, which could spur a lifelong interest in the sport.
The Smiley Sprint Triathlon on Sunday, July 27th is a little different from other triathlons. While the swim portions of many races take place in open water, the Smiley Sprint Tri’s 300m swim portion takes place at the Clemmons West Pool. This is actually an advantage in this situation, as it is beginner-friendly and offers great views for spectators.
Attorney (and 34-time Ironman) David Daggett promises a championship reception for all participants, and encourages the entire community to come out and support these athletes. Both races have sold out, but if you’d like to participate, volunteers are always welcomed. You can email David or call (336) 724-1234 for more information. Later in the episode, David Daggett participated in the Roundtable discussion with Ogi Overman and Keith Grandberry. They discussed current news items and political issues.
