The Importance of Community Involvement on Triad Today

community-involvement-on-triad-today

On Saturday, January 27th, attorneys David Daggett and Griff Shuler appeared on Triad Today to share how community involvement and service can benefit us all. Watch the segment:

Attorneys David Daggett and Griff Shuler take community service and being involved in the Triad community very seriously. In fact, service is the mission of the Daggett Shuler law firm: “to deliver care and respect to injured and disabled people.” Daggett Shuler fights for people’s rights every day, and that commitment to service extends naturally into their community involvement.

Daggett Shuler has a year-round roster of programs and events that benefit the community. From their signature Safe Sober program, encouraging good choices when it comes to making decisions about drugs and alcohol, to their Back-to-School Backpack Program benefiting Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools and the YMCA of Northwest North Carolina, to their annual holiday food drive for Second Harvest of Northwest North Carolina, they dedicate their time and expertise in ways that truly make a difference.

Many of Daggett Shuler’s community initiatives involve raising awareness about safety issues. While it can be difficult to truly measure the success of these programs, the amount of positive feedback David and Griff have received over the years shows that a difference is being made. They’ve encountered former high school students who were part of the Safe Sober program years ago, who still remember the good advice provided and now take important precautions, such as always wearing their seat belt.

If you’d like to get involved in bringing change in the community, there are plenty of ways for an individual to help. David suggests finding an area within the community that you can provide encouragement and support to. Perhaps it’s volunteering at an animal shelter, or serving food at a shelter, or mentoring a child. Use your individual talents and interests to bring valuable contributions to an organization. Just being there is a great start!

Later in the episode, David also participated in the Roundtable discussion with Ogi Overman and Bob Shackleford. They talked about current news items and political issues.
