On Saturday, October 19th, attorneys David Daggett and Griff Shuler appeared on Triad Today to discuss the recent Buddy Walk held by the Down Syndrome Association of Greater Winston-Salem (DSAGWS). This event is one of David and Griff’s favorite local events, and Daggett Shuler is proud to support this great organization.
The Down Syndrome Association of Greater Winston-Salem serves the local Down syndrome community in many ways, including providing familial support, creating opportunities for the Triad to come together, raising public awareness, providing education for families, and even offering employment opportunities for those with Down syndrome.
The Buddy Walk is one of the DSAGWS’s largest fundraisers, which helps to support their mission. It’s a day to celebrate people living with Down syndrome, and this year’s event involved over 1,000 people. The day promotes a powerful message of acceptance and inclusion, which is especially meaningful for David, who has a loved one with Down syndrome.
Another exciting initiative for the DSAGWS is their 3-21 Popup Restaurant program. This program partners people with Down syndrome with restaurant workers such as hosts and waiters for an evening. This provides them with first-hand experience about what these positions entail and can potentially lead to employment opportunities. If you’d like to learn more about these events, you can keep up-to-date by following the DSAGWS Facebook page.
Later in the episode, David Daggett participated in the Roundtable discussion with Ogi Overman and Keith Grandberry. They talked about current news items and political issues.
