Thailer Buari of Daggett Shuler Law Discusses Black Philanthropy Initiative on Triad Today

Thailer Buari on Triad Today

On January 26th, attorney Thailer Buari of Daggett Shuler Law appeared on Triad Today to discuss the Black Philanthropy Initiative (BPI) with David Daggett, Griff Shuler, and host Jim Longworth.

Triad Today airs locally on WXLV ABC45 and WMYV My48. A video clip of the segment is available below.

About the Black Philanthropy Initiative

Launched by the Winston-Salem Foundation in 2007 and led by a group of African-American volunteers who acknowledge the traditions of sharing in the black community, the BPI provides direct grant funding after weighing the merits of each grant application individually.

According to Mr. Buari, who chairs the BPI’s Governance committee, the Initiative supports organizations providing education, financial literacy, parenting skills, and life skills programs in the black community of Winston-Salem and greater Forsyth County.

How the BPI Works

Direct oversight provided by prominent leaders in the community allows the BPI to expand the model of charitable giving through education and engagement—ensuring funding recipients can do the most good in the community based on their specific field of expertise.

The BPI has previously supported such recipients as Authoring Action, Exchange/SCAN, the Experiment in Self-Reliance, Forsyth Technical Community College, and Winston-Salem Delta Fine Arts. Daggett Shuler Law encourages others to support the work of the BPI, which focuses on making a distinctive impact in the community.
