Spend July 4th at Caraway Speedway with Daggett Shuler!

(Winston-Salem, NC)  On Friday, July 4th, Caraway Speedway will host the eighth annual “Rusty Harpe Memorial” presented by Daggett Shuler, Attorneys at Law.  The annual event remembers Rusty Harpe who was a long-time competitor at the .455 mile oval located in Asheboro, NC, Ace Speedway and Bowman Gray Stadium. The event will offer the fans plenty of “bang-for-your-buck” this year.  For the second year in-a-row, the event will feature a 171 lap feature for NASCAR Late Model Stock cars and a 150 lap event for the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour.  The track’s Mini Stock division will also be in action.

Race fans will be able to see over 350 laps of racing and two “features” for the price of one on this special night. The NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour always brings the “best of the best” modified drivers with names like current series leader, Andy Seuss, George Brunnhozlel, III, , the Myers Brothers, Burt & Jason,  and many more.  The annual “Rusty Harpe Memorial” for the track’s Late Model Stock Cars features most of the Caraway Speedway regulars.  Current point leader, Robert Tyler heads a list that includes previous “RHM” winner Dan Moore, currently second in track standings, and several drivers chasing the NWAAS championship.  Tommy Lemmons, Jr., Peyton Sellars, Matt Bowling, and several others have made the Friday night Caraway events already this year and several others chasing the NWAAS title are also expected for an event that will impact the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series National Championship.

David Daggett and Griff Shuler of Daggett Shuler, Attorneys at Law return as the title sponsors for the RHM.  “David and Griff make this event possible each year and we are proud to have them help remember Rusty in this way  Bringing the WSMT Tour together with the NWAAS Late Model Stocks combines two of Rusty’s favorite types of racing together and offers area race fans something special”, said Rusty’s dad, “Chip” Harpe.  “Rusty won Championships at Caraway in the stock cars and at Bowman Gray in the Street Stocks and this gives the fans from both places a chance to remember him and his passion for racing.  The Bowman Gray fans will also have a chance to see some of their favorites in the Modifieds this week as well.  We are very proud to have Daggett Shuler, Attorneys at Law return to help make this possible” Harpe said.

Hank Thomas Performance and SUNOCO Race Fuels return as a contingency sponsor with over $1,000.00 in Gift Certificates for most of the feature event starters. That certificate is good for any of the top line parts in the Hank Thomas Performance warehouse or for SUNOCO Race Fuel.  Forsyth Technical Community College returns for the eighth consecutive year as a display sponsor for the event.  They will have a booth featuring the schools “show car” and representatives from the school will be on hand to explain the schools Motor Sports Program.  FTCC instructor, Randy Butner, a Bowman Gray Modified regular, will be on hand to help explain the programs.
