Smiling All the Way to the Finish Line: The Smiley Triathlon Festival Weekend on Triad Today

Smiley-Triathlon-Festival

On Saturday, July 17th, attorneys David Daggett and Griff Shuler of Daggett Shuler Law appeared on Triad Today alongside Jade Costen to discuss the upcoming Smiley Triathlon Festival Weekend at the Clemmons West pool. Mr. Costen is an Ironman and owner of Chick-fil-A Thruway, a proud sponsor of these events. The Smiley Triathlon Festival Weekend is open to all ages, bringing the community together and encouraging healthy lifestyles. Watch the segment:

The Smiley Triathlon Festival Weekend combines two great races – the 18th annual Kids for Kids Triathlon on Saturday, July 24th, and the Smiley Sprint Triathlon (for adults) on Sunday, July 25th.

The Kids for Kids Triathlon is open to children aged 7 to 14, and the length of the individual events are broken down by age group.

  • Ages 7-10: 100-meter swim, 3.1-mile bike, 0.6-mile run
  • Ages 11-14: 200-meter swim, 6.2-mile bike, 1.2-mile run

There is still time to register! Visit the registration site to sign up today.

The Smiley Sprint Triathlon is named in memory of Richard Smiley, a Winston-Salem athlete who was devoted to his community and improving lives through fitness. Participants will tackle a 300-meter swim, 20-kilometer bike ride, and a 5-kilometer run. This race has sold out, but the entire Triad is encouraged to come out and cheer!

The weekend features a special guest – Rajesh Durbal, the world’s only triple-amputee Ironman. Not only will he be starting off the Kids for Kids race, he will also be racing in the Smiley Sprint Triathlon! All participants will receive a championship finish, complete with medals, free race photos, food and drink, and even massages!

Later in the episode, David Daggett also participated in the Roundtable discussion with Ogi Overman and Keith Grandberry. They talked about current news items and political issues. Watch the video:
