The Rusty Harpe Memorial Race on Triad Today

On Saturday, June 15th, attorneys David Daggett and Griff Shuler appeared on Triad Today with Randy Myers, Competition Director of Caraway Speedway to discuss the upcoming 18th Annual Rusty Harpe Memorial Race.

The Rusty Harpe Memorial Race is held every summer at Caraway Speedway in Sophia, NC. This year’s modifieds race will be held on July 6th at 8pm and promises a great time for the whole family. And in the spirit of the 4th of July, fireworks will follow the event.

Rusty Harpe was a young man who tragically passed away in 2007, and the race was established in his honor to keep his memory alive. Daggett Shuler has been a proud sponsor of the event since the beginning as David knows the Harpe family well. He has had a long friendship with Chip Harpe (Rusty’s father) and knew Rusty well through their mutual involvement with high school wrestling programs. Rusty was a student athlete and David got to know him while he was officiating matches.

Caraway Speedway also hosts a whole season of events. From late-model stock car racing, to modifieds, challengers, and more, there is a variety of racing for just about everyone. The Speedway is located at 2518 Race Track Road Extension, Sophia, NC 27350. For more information, please visit

Later in the episode, Attorney David Daggett participated in the Roundtable discussion with Ogi Overman and former Congressman Mark Walker. They talked about current news items and political issues.
