Attorney David Daggett makes his living representing victims in personal injury and disability cases. He didn’t expect to be a victim.Daggett told WXII’s Margaret Johnson that he was involved in a hit-and run crash along County Club Road several weeks ago.The driver who struck Daggett’s car drove off and was eventually arrested and charged with driving while impaired. Daggett said police suspect she had been using methamphetamine and are waiting on an official toxicology report.
Daggett, whose law firm Daggett Shuler sponsors the Safe Sober Prom Night, said he hopes the incident raises awareness of a growing problem in the community. Representatives with Drug Free NC say cases of alcohol and drug use among women have risen from 7.5 percent in 1996 to 30 percent now.
Daggett wasn’t seriously injured in the crash.
