David Daggett Awarded “Buddy of the Year,” Highest Honor Given by the Piedmont Down Syndrome Support Network

Daggett Shuler, Attorneys at Law is pleased to announce that managing partner David Daggett has been given the “Buddy of the Year” award by the Piedmont Down Syndrome Support Network at their annual Buddy Walk at West Forsyth High School.

The “Buddy of the Year” award is one of the highest honors that the Piedmont Down Syndrome Support Network (PDSSN) gives annually. It is given for outstanding dedication, vision and commitment to advocacy for individuals with Down Syndrome. Attorney David Daggett is a longtime supporter of the Down Syndrome community and was honored when he was presented with this special award.

Daggett serves as the host and announcer for both the Buddy Walk and the 3-2-1 Deacon Dash, the two headlining community events that PDSSN puts on annually. The president of PDSSN, Laura Laxton, asked David for the microphone and shocked him by giving him the highest honor the organization gives at the end of the award ceremony.

“David Daggett is one of most civic minded individuals I know,” stated Griff Shuler, David’s business partner.

David Daggett won the Trial Lawyers Care Award given by the national trial lawyers organization AAJ. He hosts a multitude of local triathlons, bike events and health related local events within the community and his church. David also serves on the board of Insight Human Services, an organization focused on meeting the behavioral health needs of those suffering from mental illness, developmental disabilities, and/or substance use issues.

Attorney Daggett, 57, of Winston-Salem has completed 190 triathlons including 27 Ironman competitions. He often compares his extreme daily workout regimen which takes a high level of commitment, dedication and perseverance, to how his law firm, Daggett Shuler approaches each and every client.

The Buddy Walk® was created by the National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS) in 1995 to celebrate Down Syndrome Awareness Month in October and to promote awareness, acceptance and inclusion of individuals with Down syndrome. The 3-2-1 Deacon Dash is a 5K with an extra “dash” of .11 miles so that runners complete 3.21 miles, in honor of the 3rd copy of the 21st chromosome present in people with Down Syndrome.

The Piedmont Down Syndrome Support Network (PDSSN) is a nonprofit organization that provides support and information to individuals with Down syndrome and their families in the Piedmont area. PDSSN aims to support and enrich the lives of children and adults with Down Syndrome so they reach their full potential and achieve their dreams.
