David Daggett and the WFMY 2 Good Morning Show Spread Anti-Bullying Message

David Daggett speaking

On Tuesday, October 16th, David Daggett of Daggett Shuler Law visited Meadowlark Elementary School in Winston-Salem as part of the 2 Stop Bullying program sponsored by WFMY 2 and the Good Morning Show. A report on this engaging event is available here.

As part of Bullying Awareness Month, the WFMY 2 Good Morning Show Team brought their anti-bullying message to Meadowlark Elementary School—one of over 80 schools located within the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System.

Attorney David Daggett joined them to help spread a vital message: If we can stop even one child from being attacked or targeted, then we’ve made a difference.

According to the feedback received, this powerful sponsorship helps provide fantastic exposure for the cause—and is highly appreciated by the community. Every week during the month of October, the WFMY 2 Good Morning Show plans to bring their powerful anti-bullying message to a different elementary school in the district.

Bullying Defined

Bullying is any unwanted, aggressive actions among school-aged children involving a type of power imbalance—real or perceived. The federal government defines bullying as “any aggressive or unwanted behavior used again and again to isolate, harm, or control another person.”

Look for the Signs

A detailed list of the potential warning signs of bullying behavior—covering both bullying victims as well as bullies themselves—is available here.

What to Do If You Spot Signs of Bullying?

  • Listen to the child and take all reports of bullying seriously
  • Reassure the child that the bullying is not their fault
  • Address any mental health issues
  • Give good advice about what to do
  • Work together with the child and community to resolve the situation
  • Commit to stopping the bullying
