Daggett Shuler Attorneys Discuss The PLC Farm Run 5K on Triad Today

Griff Shuler, Greg Keener, David Daggett, and Jim Longworth on Triad Today

On Saturday, December 14th, Attorneys David Daggett and Griff Shuler appeared on Triad Today along with Greg Keener, the Director of Development for the Piedmont Land Conservatory (PLC). They discussed the purpose of the PLC, as well as the recent Farm Run 5K, which took place on December 15th. Watch the segment:

Greg Keener talked about the mission of the PLC, which is to protect the natural areas of the Piedmont. They work with both state parks and private land owners in order to achieve preservation. One of the PLC’s tactics is to use conservation easements. These are voluntary, legally-binding agreements which permanently restrict the use of land in order to protect it from development.

The Farm Run 5K took place on the grounds of the Crossnore School & Children’s Home on Reynolda Road. In 2018, the PLC reached an agreement wherein they will be buying the development rights to nearly half of its 200+ acres. This conservation easement allows Crossnore to maintain ownership of the land, while protecting it from further development. The race’s proceeds benefitted the PLC’s annual operating expenses.

Later in the episode, David Daggett joined writer Ogi Overman and consultant Keith Grandberry for the Roundtable Discussion, where local politics and issues were debated. Watch the Roundtable Discussion:
