Attorney David Daggett was recently featured in North Carolina Lawyer Magazine for his decades of legal service, elite endurance accomplishments, and unwavering resilience. From completing 35 Ironman races to overcoming personal health challenges, his commitment to discipline, community involvement, and client advocacy reflects the core values that define Daggett Shuler.

Daggett Shuler is proud to share that Attorney David Daggett was recently featured in a North Carolina Lawyer Magazine article by the North Carolina Bar Association’s Communications Manager, Jessica Junqueira. The article highlighted his commitment to overcoming challenges, achieving goals, and making a difference through decades of community service.
For more than 40 years, David has balanced a dedicated legal career with elite endurance training, completing 35 Ironman races, including the prestigious Ironman World Championship. His approach is simple but powerful: integrate your goals into your daily life. Early morning swims, lunchtime runs, and weekend rides are woven into his professional, family, and civic commitments.
“I think the one thing everybody in this firm will tell you, and everybody in town in my profession, is that I don’t quit, and I don’t give up. And hard stuff doesn’t bother me. It’s a developed resiliency that I definitely think Ironman racing has augmented in a very, very positive manner for me,” he stated in the article.
In 2025, David faced a personal challenge when he was diagnosed with early-stage prostate cancer. However, because he acted quickly and pursued testing, his medical team caught the cancer early. Rather than stepping back, he worked strategically around the next steps of the diagnosis to continue training, completed another Ironman, and began advocating publicly for men’s health and early detection.
In addition, David’s daughter, Annecy, who injured her leg after being struck by a car and underwent major surgery in 2022, echoed her father’s unwavering resilience. She participated in the Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon by his side in 2025 after making a complete recovery.
The article captures what defines both David and our firm – hard work, discipline, and a refusal to give up. Those same qualities guide the way we represent clients facing serious injuries, workers’ compensation claims, and Social Security disability matters.
“With no doubt, as an attorney, the most rewarding part is working with each and every individual. I like people. The only thing I have done my entire career is represent individuals, real flesh and blood. And I hug them, I cry with them, I celebrate with them, but each and every individual is a separate story. And each and every one of them has touched me in some way, shape or form and still does. I just absolutely love it,” he said.
David’s long-standing involvement with the North Carolina Bar Association, 36 years of leading the Safe Sober Program, and his dedication to encouraging others reflect the mission and core values of Daggett Shuler – To provide Teamwork, Service, and Excellence.
We are honored to see David’s story recognized and proud to continue serving our community with the same determination and compassion highlighted in this feature.
