Beginning in January 2025, approximately 68 million Social Security recipients will experience a 2.5% increase in their monthly benefits. Furthermore, nearly 7.5 million SSI recipients will see their adjusted payments start on December 31, 2024.
The average SSDI recipient will receive a monthly payment of $1,957, which is an increase from $1,905 in 2024. In addition, the monthly maximum SSI payments for 2025 are $967 for an eligible individual and $1,450 for an eligible individual with an eligible spouse.
In early December, the SSA will send out notifications detailing your new benefit amount. This year’s notice will be redesigned for clarity, making it simpler to understand. The notification will be a single page, using straightforward language to outline your updated benefit amount and any deductions.
If you have a personal mySocialSecurity account, you can conveniently access your COLA notice online, providing a more secure and quicker option than waiting for postal delivery. To view your notice online, you must set up your account by November 20th.
