SSPN 2013 Making Its Way Across the Triad

High school students across the Triad are paying it forward this prom season by signing Daggett Shuler’s Safe Sober Prom Night Pledge. Students in 37 area high schools are vowing to say “No” to drugs and alcohol during prom this year.

Daggett Shuler has begun personally visiting area schools to encourage students to take the Safe Sober Prom Night pledge. With 23 years of advocacy, the Safe and Sober Prom Night message has reached over 400,000 high school students in the Carolinas; promoting positive peer pressure to students and parents alike in an effort to reduce underage drinking and driving.

Bob Anastas, founder of SADD, is the featured speaker at SSPN assemblies between 4/8/13 – 4/12/13.  Coach Anastas is a former college All-American football and hockey player, NFL quarterback, and high school coach. In the summer of 1981, he faced a tragedy when in the span of 4 days, two of his star hockey players were killed in separate drunk driving accidents. Their deaths prompted Anastas to found SADD (Students Against Drunk Driving). Anastas is now a nationally acclaimed motivational speaker.
