On April 27th, David Daggett and Griff Shuler of Daggett Shuler Law will join host Jim Longworth of Triad Today to discuss how local students can to stay safe during Prom. For the 29th year, the team at Daggett Shuler Law is working hard on another successful Safe Sober Prom Night. The Triad Today program airs:

  • Saturdays at 7:30am on WXLV ABC45
  • Sundays at 11:00am on WMYV My48

Accompanying David and Griff will be Angelina Rice. A senior at Career Center and Walkertown High Schools, Angelina recently won the 2019 Safe Sober Prom Night T-Shirt Design Contest. Her artwork and name appears on the 15,000 t-shirts given to area juniors and seniors who sign the Safe Sober Prom Night Pledge. In recognition of Angelina’s outstanding achievement, she also received a $500 scholarship.

Safe Sober Prom Night also presented a $500 grant to the classroom of the winning student. Angelina’s Graphic Arts II teacher—Stephanie Messer—plans to use the money for classroom supplies—ensuring her students have the tools they require to succeed.

About Angelina’s Design

Angelina’s design was chosen from over 150 student entries from across the Triad. In recognition of her efforts, David and partner Griff Shuler surprised Angelina with an award presentation during class. As part of the presentation, Angelina received the very first shirt with her design to come off the press, professionally framed for display. More on the presentation is available here.

About Safe Sober Prom Night

Safe Sober Prom Night was co-founded in 1991 by David Daggett. The program creates awareness among teens throughout North Carolina about the dangers of drugs and alcohol—particularly around prom time. The program asks students to sign a pledge card agreeing to stay free of drugs and alcohol on prom night.

For the past few years, the program has also included a Fall Speaker Series—a week-long set of uplifting, inspiring presentations at participating schools. The Fall Speaker Series helps to expand the program’s impact on students in the community, and reminds them to make good choices throughout the year.
