On March 16th, David Daggett of Daggett Shuler Law will visit Triad Today with host Jim Longworth to discuss exciting new changes coming to the Piedmont Down Syndrome Support Network (PDSSN)—including the upcoming 3-2-1 Deacon Dash race. The Triad Today program airs:
- Saturdays at 7:30am on WXLV ABC45
- Sundays at 11:00am on WMYV My48
Joining David for this segment will be Brent Bennett, a member of the PDSSN. The two will discuss a recent name change—as the PDSSN is now the Down Syndrome Association of Greater Winston-Salem (DSA of GWS). From the group’s official Facebook page:
“Our big news is officially here: a new organizational name and logo! We are now the Down Syndrome Association of Greater Winston-Salem. Over the next several weeks, we will be announcing several exciting events and a brand-new website.”
3-2-1 Deacon Dash
David and Brent are excited to promote the upcoming 3-2-1 Deacon Dash, which David will announce and Daggett Shuler Law proudly sponsors. This 5K race with an extra .11 mile added helps to raise awareness and support for individuals in our community with Down Syndrome. The 3.21 mile total distance is for the awareness and support of individuals with Down syndrome. Most people have 2 copies of 23 different chromosomes but individuals with Down syndrome are born with 3 copies of the 21st chromosome. The event—now in its fourth year—takes place on Saturday, March 30th at the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds. Online registration closes on Tuesday, March 26th.
About the DSA of GWS
The DSA of GWS helps support the National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS). The NDSS provides support and information to parents of children and adults with Down Syndrome in the Greater Winston-Salem area. Their aim is to support each other and enrich the lives of children and adults so they can reach their full potential. More information on the NDSS is available here.
