About SAFE SOBER

The team at Daggett Shuler, Attorneys at Law is committed to promoting a healthy lifestyle and the overall wellness of the Triad community particularly when it comes to warning teens about the dangers of drugs and alcohol. When people choose to use drugs or alcohol, the health of our entire community suffers. Over 30 years ago, when David Daggett was a young attorney, he saw the aftermath of the poor decisions that young people made around drugs and alcohol and created Safe Sober Prom Night. Originally aimed at high school students during prom season, Safe Sober has evolved over the past few years to encourage the entire Triad to make the right choice when faced with decisions about drugs and alcohol.

Celebrating 36 Years

Attorney David Daggett co-founded Safe Sober Prom Night three decades ago when he saw the need to encourage teens to make good choices surrounding drug and alcohol use.

Impacting Over 600,000 Students

With over 50 local high schools participating in the program, generations of students have been impacted by Safe Sober’s message. Safe Sober continues to expand to encompass the entire Triad community.

Safe Sober T-Shirt Contest

The annual t-shirt contest is a staple of the Safe Sober program. One local high schooler’s design is selected to be printed on thousands of shirts. The student also receives a $1,000 scholarship.

Daggett Shuler, Attorneys at Law has partnered with the William G. White, Jr. YMCA to launch the Safe Sober Teen Center, a dedicated after-school space in Winston-Salem designed to support and mentor middle and high school students. This long-term initiative provides a safe environment where teens can improve academically, engage in enrichment activities, and build positive relationships, while also promoting healthy, substance-free lifestyles. By combining resources and community leadership, the program expands the impact of the longstanding Safe Sober initiative, helping students develop the skills and support they need to succeed.

The History OF SAFE SOBER

Now in its 3rd decade, Safe Sober works to combat destructive behaviors that impact us all. The Safe Sober Program works by creating awareness of the dangers of drug and alcohol consumption. By educating our youth about these potential dangers, Daggett Shuler strives to improve the health of our community. The program encourages students to sign a pledge card agreeing to remain sober and make good decisions. In return for making that pledge, students are given a t-shirt proclaiming to their peers that they have pledged to be drug and alcohol free.
