What Child Safety Measures are Required by North Carolina Bicycle Laws?

In regards to cycling, what child safety measures are required by law in North Carolina? Infants and small children are particularly vulnerable on bicycles, so caution and safety are urged. The Child Bicycle Safety Act of 2001 additionally requires that all child passengers under 40 pounds or 40 inches, must be seated and secured in a child seat, or bicycle trailer.
