Daggett Shuler Law Supports Piedmont Down Syndrome Support Network Buddy Walk

Buddy Walk logo

October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month. In celebration, the Buddy Walk®—an event held by Piedmont Down Syndrome Support Network (PDSSN)—will be held on October 13th at the West Forsyth High School track.

Created by the National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS) in 1995, the Buddy Walk promotes acceptance and inclusion of those with Down Syndrome. This fundraising event supports the work of PDSSN within the Down Syndrome community. Additional information on the Buddy Walk is available here. For more on the NDSS, please visit their site.

About the Buddy Walk

Since the inaugural event in 1995, the Buddy Walk has grown from a modest 17 walks. This year, there are nearly 275 walks planned worldwide. Last year’s nationwide Buddy Walks helped the NDSS raise nearly $11.8 million for local programs and services. The funds collected also support national NDSS advocacy initiatives to benefit all individuals with Down Syndrome.

The 2018 PDSSN Buddy Walk and Family Fun Day will be held on the track of West Forsyth High School—the largest high school in Forsyth County. As the primary fundraiser for PDSSN, the event is a great place to meet other families and learn about the rewards of having a child with Down Syndrome. This year, PDSSN expects over 1,250 people to participate in food, entertainment, carnival games, inflatables, educational information, a talent show, music, and more.
